The requirements for researchers, lecturers and students to publish their scientific articles, but on the other hand the limited availability of publication media with international standard in Indonesia bring up the existence of journals and conferences that do not fulfill several criteria for publishing a journal or scientific proceedings.

The Library of Faculty of Geography UGM held a “Scientific Article Writing Workshop” on 23 October 2018. This event was part of library workshops series, which are carried out in order to increase the number and quality of scientific publications. The workshop materials attended by participants from Master and Doctoral students consist of understanding on national journals, accredited national journals, international journals and reputable international journals as media for publication. This materials were delivered by Purwani Istiana, SIP., MA. The next session was how to write an article to be submitted to journal editor.
“The certificate of expertise should accompany graduates of Geography”, said Jojo Achmad Rahardjo, as a Chairman of Committee ’88 Geography UGM Alumni, as he opens his remarks on the socialization of “Introduction to HR in the Geospatial Industry” and certification exam simulations, Thursday 18 October 2018, in collaboration between Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) and LSP GeoProf. The speakers of this event were from BIG and Alumni, who have taken part in related fields. This event was presented by ’88 Geography UGM Alumni, in a series of alumni gathering events with the slogan “Telung Puluh Tahun Kekancan Ora Mboseni”.
